Best game of the N64?

What do you think the best game of the N64 era is? Personally, I go for Super Mario 64 because I love platformer games, and it revolutionized 3-D gaming.

Other notable games are the Banjo Kazooie games, both of the Legend of Zelda games, and Jet Force Gemini.

Paper Mario was fantastic. I don't know about revolutionary, but certaintly a classic.

Super Smash Bros. of course.

I do thing that the N64 games, like Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time were the best. But, since Super Smash Bros. 64 sombined them, I suppose that pushes it a few steps ahead.

Aaaw, SSB is underrated! When having three friends and an N64, it's really fun!

Actually, I think it's more fun with five friends. Then you get to watch two people play super smash bros over the fourth controller. XD

There's no such thing as a game on the N64 that wasn't legendary.

Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, DK 64, Super Smash Bros, Kirby: The Crystal Shards, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, etc.

I could go on.

I think Banjo Tooie and Banjo Kazooie highly surpassed Super Mario 64. At least for graphics.

Banjo-Kazooie was by far the best graphics on the N64. BT had dirty textures so it still had good graphics, just not the best.

Paper Mario is definately an awesome game though.

Truth be told, despite having a few more games I would've liked to get, I only own 6 games for N64. And all but one of them I'd say were GREAT.

DK 64 is probably my favorite for N64. I spent so long playing that game you can't even imagine.

Then there's Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Snap (which needs a sequel), SSB64, and Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer. All great games, really.

But again, gotta love DK64. It even had awesome multiplayer. Especially the one level with the secret passages...I completely owned my friends the first time I did that.

Oh yeah, and I own three N64 games on VC. Star Fox 64, Kirby 64, and Paper Mario. All great games, though out of the three I'd say Star Fox 64 is the best.

Yeah, Paper Mario comes in a close second. Star Fox 64 just wins for the amazing jokes. (other things too, but those set it apart from everything else)

Truth be told, I've not played any of the three of them extensively. I bought Paper Mario and played it a lot the day I bought it and just haven't felt motivated to do so again. Star Fox 64 I haven't played since I got to the last level twice and failed against Star Wolf.
Kirby 64 is fun and I've actually gotten quite a ways into it but it's not all that great...mixing abilities is fun (I recall some really fun ones resulting) but it's not really as fun as normal Kirby games.

Personally Smash 64 and Mario 64 were my favorite games from the N64. So much fun and time were put into those games its no wonder those are the only two games i really remember from the n64 Era. But from what ive heard from many people over theses last 10 years from when it has died out, is that nothing can top OoT as best game for N64.

I've heard that too, but I've played OoT and I don't find it very engaging, at least not at the beginning. I feel like when I'm playing it I'm just forcing myself to keep playing it for...god knows what reason. Probably because lots of OoT fanboys explode every time I say I haven't beaten the game yet, and I'm not even to the third dungeon.

I don't own it for N64, but I own it on Collector's Edition for GC. I can't imagine they're any different.

does anyone here play the banjo kazooy games, personally I thought those were the best, and smash 64 for came third after them. I actually still play them every now and then, and they are SOOOOO addicting. I love the dragon in the second one

Agreed. Banjo Kazooie and Tooie were ahead of their times. And now they're going to slaughter it with Nuts & Bolts.

3) SSB (Revolutionized the fighting genre.)

4) Banjo Kazooie (Revolutionized graphics and platforming.)

5) Super Mario 64 (Do I really NEED a reason?)

6) Banjo Tooie

By the way. How do you get past the level when you crawl up the web in the great tree and you go into the room and it locks behind you?

Paper Mario is cool also! It bought it off the Wii Shop Channel!!

Is there an enemy in the room that locks behind you? If there is, just beat it/them and then the door should open.

I just like Pokemon Snap because you can hit pokemon with special kinds of balls and then take pictures of them. If only you could do that in real life...

Just got Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye for 64 yesterday (I've had Ocarina on Master Collection for a while, just not the original). Maybe I'll actually be motivated to go far in it now and...you know, get past the second dungeon.
